Growing Out

Ciao my darlings, I hope this blog post finds you well and warm after another week of cold weather. Us Sheffielders have been enjoying another bout of snow and it was so beautiful that I couldn't even be angry at it for making me get up earlier to make it into my Woody Allen exam on time. It also offered a lovely backdrop to catching up with my friend Shelby. Seriously gorgeous Sheffield SO MUCH SNOW!!!! This past week has been a whirlwind of revision and desperation yet somehow I managed to fend off the panic and reach a zen state. Remembering the comment of a good friend of mine: "Why do you even worry? Seriously? SERIOUSLY???" definitely helped my worry be more focused at least. Also I had several of good things happen in the busyness of the week that meant I couldn't give over to my desire to hide in bed and not come out until next semester. Celebrated my first exam being over with a tasty snack :) Firstly I had a counselling session wi

Hello again my dear readers, I hope this weekend has brought relaxation for you in amongst the ongoing busyness of January. For me this past week has been an exceedingly busy one, involving the relief of handing essays in and then then delving- pretty much straight away- into revision mode with the days speeding up quicker than I would like them to. However it has had some highlights such as a tasty hot chocolate catch up with my friend Nicola, a bit of retail therapy, some fun with snow which provided much distraction and amusement (whilst reinforcing why winter is my favourite season), fitness class reunions with my friend Jess- which resulted in the lack of leg usage for the past several days- and some quality TV. This in amongst frantically writing Woody Allen and Renaissance notes. Hot Chocolate and Blueberry muffins in Patisserie Valerie Missed this lady lots over Christmas! Sheffield has snow! Hello from Sheffield my dears, I hope this blog finds you well, warm and rested. I mentioned at the end of my last blog containing my reflections on 2014 (can be found here ) that I would post one soon regarding what I'm looking forward to this year. Well you waited and here it is. Many people at the start of a new year - or fourteen days in like me - begin to make goals, aspirations or resolutions, whatever you want to call them for the year ahead. I confess I have conferred to this tradition in the past and some things have stuck and others... have not. However this year, 2015, I am going to break from it and try something new, something more positive for me. To make a list (and a map which will be creative and beautiful *fingers crossed*) of all the things I'm looking forward to this year rather than declarations, restrictions and targets. I prefer some things to aim for and be my little silver linings in all this unknown.   Here are some quotes that remind me of t

Hello dear readers, A belated Merry Christmas and a belated Happy New Year to you all. It's been a while since I last posted and I've been up to quite a bit since then. My apologies, as always for the delay. This festive season was different from the usual as I was not actually home for Christmas but had one of three parts. The first was lovely and busy spent with extended family which was wonderful as whilst feeling so quiet inside it was nice to have the busyness of people to talk to and things to do. Yet I decided not to partake in the traditional Christmas swim, a good decision in my opinion. Family is what is so important at this time of year and it was lovely to be with so many of them despite all that had changed. Boxing Day saw a ridiculously early start as Mum, Dad, Jonah, Eve and I began the long drive up to Manchester for the football. This was made easier however by the breakfast of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Highly nutritious! So tasty! It's stil
